Art Deco Walking Tour, Napier

These fascinating guided walks take you into the heart of Napier’s Art Deco Quarter, revealing to you the story of the 1931 earthquake and introducing you to the Art Deco style that the city is recognized for worldwide.

They depart daily at 10am for 1.5 hours, 2pm for 2.5 hours and in Summer (October-March) at 4.30pm for 2 hours.  

The  walk is 1.5 hours long, starting off with 'The Day that changed the Bay', a 20 minute movie which gives you an background to Napier and the earthquake that changed the face of this sea side town forever. 


​ At the conclusion of the movie your local guide will take you around the city pointing out key buildings and sharing more details on how, after the quake, the city was totally rebuilt within two years in the classic art deco style.
