Eden House - Nelson

Edenhouse luxury  accommodation resides in a world of unrivalled charm, beauty and adventure – in the heart of the Nelson region, an idyllic place which is so much more than the city of that name.   It’s located at the top of the South Island in an area that enjoys the most sunshine hours of anywhere in New Zealand and is home to some of the most popular tourist attractions in the South Island, including The Abel Tasman National Park.   The beautiful Orinoco Valley, in which Edenhouse is located, is 45 minutes by road from Nelson Airport, towards The Abel Tasman National Park.

There are two luxurious suites in the main lodge, and the beautifully appointed and very private 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom garden cottage.  All suites are air conditioned, with pure Irish linen sheets and luxury toiletries. Well stocked refrigerators, Sky televisions, and wireless internet are all included in the tariff.

The landscaped gardens are large, so as well as enjoying the sitting room, formal dining room, artists’ studio, den and library, there are several courtyard areas providing additional places to eat, drink and relax. The gardens are a cool oasis in the summer whilst open fires throughout the lodge give warmth and atmosphere in the winter months.

The local bountiful bays speak for themselves, with their abundant stocks of finfish, scallops, mussels and oysters. On land, meanwhile, the mild weather, fertile soils and family growers with generations of experience make for a cornucopia of local produce. Arguably the world’s best apples grow here, and equally-highly-regarded berry fruit. Organic produce is common, and delectable. It can feel more Mediterranean than southern Pacific at times – from the asparagus of early spring to the sun-ripened tomatoes, eggplants, peaches and peppers of late summer, plus olives, grapes and figs.

Fine local award-winning wines that delight the palette are included in the dinner tariff as are pre-dinner drinks and canapés. Guests are offered outstanding aged wines back to 2006, without additional charge, as part of the dining experience at Edenhouse.
