Mahana Lodge - Marlborough Sounds
The historic Mahana Homestead is the heart of the Mahana Lodge complex, set in 40ha of native bush and established gardens. This building is more than 100 years old and is surrounded by cottage gardens, native bush and an expansive lawn set right on the beach front. It was once the centre of a large sheep farm but now the farm has been returned to forest and the lovingly restored homestead welcomes travellers instead.
Mahana Lodge is operated by Juliet and Steve Gibbons, Marlborough locals with nearly 20 years’ experience welcoming visitors to the Sounds.
There are four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and you have a choice of a king size bed, or twin beds (two single beds). The rooms all open on to a small deck, three with forest backdrops and one with a sea view out towards Endeavour Inlet.
The central shared guest lounge, on to which each bedroom suite connects, offers a comfortable communal area to relax with breathtaking views over Endeavour Inlet from the large windows. It is stocked with books, magazines, games and puzzles for your rest and relaxation should you be able to tear yourself away from the view.
Self-serve facilities are provided for hot drinks but we do not provide facilities for cooking your own evening meal. The cosy log fire provides warmth and comfort for those cooler evenings.
To enhance your peaceful enjoyment of Mahana, we have chosen to be a TV free zone. Please note that there is no cell phone coverage at Mahana. Internet access is available on arrangement for an additional fee.
