Kahurangi Highlights Tour (In Maori “Kahurangi” means “Treasured Possession”)

Explore New Zealand’s most diverse national park, home to the greatest range of landforms, habitats and communities of plants and wildlife in the country. This exciting flight takes us southwest from Nelson and enters the Kahurangi via Ghost Valley before climbing to the top of Mt Owen. It was also here that Peter Jackson chose a filming location for the trilogy ‘Lord of the Rings’. Here we land to explore the unique rocky landscape and take in breath-taking views of Mt Owen and its surrounds.

Discover the golden-sand beaches and pristine waters of the Abel Tasman National Park. New Zealand’s smallest yet most frequently visited national park. Land for a gourmet lunch or just a coffee at Awaroa Lodge and a stroll along the beach before returning to Nelson. Awaroa Lodge is open from September through to May (closed winter) and these flights operate daily.

Truly appreciate this natural maze of waterways from above with our Marlborough Sounds Heli Lunch. Your flight will take in views of the Pelorus, Queen Charlotte & Keneperu Sounds before landing for a gourmet lunch on the waterfront at the famous “Bay of Many Coves Resort”. Fishing in the sounds can also be arranged as an optional extra.

Located in the beautiful Nelson Lakes National Park, Blue Lake— also known as Rotomairewhenua—holds the title of the world’s clearest lake. This flight takes us south into the Nelson Lakes where we enjoy spectacular views of Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotorua and Blue Lake, before a mountain landing on the National Park boundary. Please note that Blue Lake is a protected wilderness area which we are only permitted to overfly. This location is a two day journey on foot.
