The Beach House -  Kawau Island

Kawau Beach House is a unique lodge nestled on the edge of the crystal clear waters of Vivian Bay. We offer boutique beachfront, courtyard and bush cottage accommodation in a quintessential New Zealand setting of native bush, birds and pristine beaches.

Stroll a few metres to The Beach House – kick off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes – time to relax and unwind.  Kayak out onto the sheltered bays, go snorkelling, go paddleboarding, dive for shellfish, catch a fish, bush walk or just simply relax with a good book and unwind.

As night falls the skies open to showcase the stars.  No light pollution, no roads, and no cars – just exquisite décor, stunning ocean views and exceptional cuisine.

Hear the calls of New Zealand’s native birds – tui, fantails, wood pigeons, and kingfishers and, as night falls, the sound of moreporks and kiwi. The friendly weka will entertain you as they forage near the beach.

Island accommodation consists of eleven well-appointed rooms each with their own ambience and style - premium linens and furnishings throughout.

Beachfront rooms are built just a few steps away from the sand and overlook the bay with panoramic views of the quiet beach and ocean. Each has its own private deck with table and chairs.

The Ocean view and Courtyard rooms are equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy your Kawau Island experience.

The cosy Bush Cottage rooms are very secluded being built amid the native bush elevated above the main complex (approximately 120 steps up into the bush). Each has a balcony with panoramic views of Kawau Bay.
